Marc Klaas has been a high profile child safety and victims’ rights advocate since the 1993 kidnap and murder of his twelve year old daughter Polly. Founder and President of the nonprofit KlaasKids Foundation, Mr. Klaas has testified numerous times before federal and state legislative committees. Speaking credits include the 1996 Democratic National Convention, a college death penalty debate tour with Unabomber brother David Kaczynski, the death penalty debate at University Philosophical Society – Trinity College Dublin, and Keynote addresses for numerous law enforcement and civilian conferences.
Mr. Klaas has published two editorial opinion columns each in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, the San Diego Union Tribune, and the San Jose Mercury News. He has also written editorial opinion columns for the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Portland Oregonian, the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle, the Merced Sun-Star, the Vallejo Times Herald, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Oakland Tribune, the Seattle Times, and the Los Angeles Daily News. In June, 2000 Mr. Klaas published a death penalty article in Newsweek Magazine. Mr. Klaas‘ 41-part Trial Journal was also a regular feature in the San Jose Mercury News from April thru September, 1996.
Mr. Klaas is a frequent contributor on CNN, HLN, the FOX News Network, CNBC, and MSNBC. He currently appears regularly as an analyst on Nancy Grace (HLN). Other television credits include serving as host for five segments on American Journal, serving as host for two segments on Extra!, and serving as host for a segment on A Current Affair. A highly sought after television guest/analyst, he has appeared on all three network morning shows, The View, Oprah and most of the major television news magazine programs.
